AquaBrowser supports the DLF ILS API Initiative
Attending Code4lib 2008, ‘a loosely structured camp/conference for library technologists to commune, gather/create/share ideas and software, be inspired, and forge collaborations’, was a blast — seeing so much geekiness, energy and potential in a room was a great experience. One of the many interesting things was the Digital Library Foundation starting an initiative to define an API that will streamline interaction between ILSes and tools that sit on top of them, such as AquaBrowser. Emily Lynema from NCSU and Terry Reese from Oregon State U presented the proposal, and it looks very promising.
The proposal has been undersigned by:

- California Digital Library

- AquaBrowser
Whether other vendors will follow suit in declaring friendship on open interaction, remains to be seen. In the meantime, and independently of this, you can rest assured we’re continuing to do what we do well: connect to any ILS out there.
You can find the presentation video and slides on the code4lib site.
