Search
AquaBrowser Search is built on top of an integrated, blazing fast full-text search engine that was created specifically for searching natural language content.
AquaBrowser’s relevancy ranking is known for its groundbreaking capabilities in supporting both known item searches on fields such as title and author, and free-form topical keyword searching. Just try out a few of the queries below and see how intelligently AquaBrowser ranks the results.
- A generic topical keyword: finding something on the topic of jaguars
- A known item search: the book ‘blink’ by malcolm gladwell
Search features
- Fast searches to enable discovery and put an end to user frustration
- Stemming that automatically finds different inflections of verbs and nouns
- “Did you mean?” suggesting corrected spellings for queries with no results
- Relevancy ranking using a thought-through mix of hit count, field weighting and, optionally, a range of other factors provided by the indexed data (such as popularity, item count, et cetera)
- Found words and hit highlighting to easily recognize why a result appears for any given query
- Flexible sorting options: relevance, title, author, and year published
Discover
Just when the search results aren’t quite right, most search engines stop helping. AquaBrowser takes searching to the next level and engages in a dialog with the user in order to determine the context of a query and thus improve results.
A simple example: take a query like ‘mercury’. What would you expect to see in the search results? Take a look at what happens in a typical AquaBrowser. Note that by virtue of the default relevancy ranking, you get great results for Mercury. But what if your search was done because you wanted to repair your Ford Mercury? Or if you were looking for the Greek god? Take a look at the word cloud and click on ‘repair’ or ‘deity’ — with AquaBrowser, it only takes one extra click to create a context for your query!
The word cloud displays associations, translations and spelling variants, all generated automatically. There’s no need to create or maintain anything.
Discovery features
- Intelligent ranking of contextual items
- Automatically generated associations
- Translations
- Spelling variants
- Thesaurus or authority sees and see-alsos
- Word cloud can be switched into an author or subject browser
